Nepal dealt hammer blow by Hong Kong
Nepal have been dealt a massive blow in their bid to qualify for their second consecutive ICC World Twenty20 after going down to Hong Kong by five wickets in the Qualifiers in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Wednesday.
The defeat pushed Nepal to fifth in the Group ‘A’ standings with three points from four games and they will not only need to win their two remaining games against Papua New Guinea and Jersey but also wait for the results of the other pool matches.
PNG on Wednesday produced a major upset stunning defending champions Ireland by two wickets. Ireland lead the table with six points from four games and PNG are second with five points from three matches. Namibia and Hong Kong have three points with the former sitting ahead on better net run rate.
The result also handed Nepal their seventh defeat in their 10 T20 Internationals. Hong Kong now have a 2-1 head to head record against Nepal in the T20Is.
